Question: I know how Dr. Masterson would proceed with a typical self-distorted case. He would divide it into borderline, narcissistic, or schizoid, and then there would be an approach based on that particular diagnosis and on whether he thought there was a chance for long-term work resolution of abandonment depression. What would your approach be if somebody comes into your office and you decide he or she has a self disorder?
