Ericksonian Communication and Hypnotic Strategies in the Management of Tics and Tourette Syndrome in Children and Adolescents

Tourette syndrome (TS) is a complex neurobehavioral disorder with onset in childhood of multiple motor tics and vocalizations. A common misbelief is that children with TS are unable to exercise control over their vocalizations and movements. Because TS commonly goes undiagnosed for 3 to 5 years, children with TS often experience ostracism and a sense of loss of control over their bodies.
