ABSTRACT

Upon learning of these practices, Mrs. Mori's colleagues felt that she was still severely depressed and had not yet recovered from the loss of her son. On the recommendation of her supervisor, Mrs. Mori consulted a psychiatric clinic, where she was seen by a psychiatrist of Asian background. Since Mrs. Mori did not have clinical signs of major depression, the psychiatrist concluded that Mrs. Mori was going through an ordinary mourning process, and that she was not pathologically depressed.
