COUPLE COMMUNICATION: A System for Equipping Partners To Talk, Listen, and Resolve Conflicts Effectively
D Introduction The roots of the COUPLE COMMUNICATION program extend back to the late 1960s at the University of Minnesota Family Study Center. There, surrounded with an outstanding faculty and a research grant from the National Institute of Mental Health, Sherod Miller, Elam Nunnally, and Daniel Wackman met as graduate students and formed a research and program development team. The team focused its initial research on the transition from engagement to early marriage and on the conditions that supported couples in establishing a successful relationship. This research led to the development of the COUPLE COMMUNICATION system.
