The Caring Couples Network

Several historical and theoretical factors influenced the development of the CCN team approach. The concept of couples as influencing other couples is part of most theoretical understandings of marriage, family dynamics, and therapy (e .g., Paolino & McCrady, 1978; Stuart, 1980; Jacobson & Gurman, 1986; Popenoe, Elshtain, & Blankenhorn; 1996). The concept of the CCN team as mobilizing married couples for action grew out of seeing the gap between the needs of couples and the availability to them of couples who model healthy marriage and family living.
