ABSTRACT

A movement disorder is a neurologic illness that features abnormal movements as major symptoms. Parkinson’s disease (PD) is one of the most common and is characterized by progressive neurodegeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. The disease triad consists of bradykinesia, rigidity, and tremor. Dopaminergic drugs are the mainstay of pharmacological treatment. Both PD and the medications used to treat it may promote psychiatric symptoms.
