ABSTRACT

Before beginning, I want to express gratitude to the American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry (ASAP), which is responsible in more than one way for my receiving this award. It was ASAP that, years ago, set me on the course that led to this point by involving me in the whole area of juvenile justice. Ron Costell, a local colleague and member of ASAP, suggested that I serve on what was then ASAP's juvenile delinquency committee.
