Evaluating Progress

WE CAN REGARD PROGRESS AS A MICROPROCESS, the result of one or more communications within a session, or more broadly, the cumulative effect over many sessions. Stated more formally, the tenth principle of technique is "We follow the sequence of our interventions and the patient's responses to them to evaluate their effect." In this chapter, I describe various ways to "see what comes next."
