ABSTRACT
In this paper, I first sketch how people tend to underestimate exponential growth. Next, I discuss what has been said about the psychological magnitude of numbers, the number scale being just another continuum susceptible to psychophysical transformation. Finally, I attempt to link the two phenomena, explaining the first by the second.
