ABSTRACT
The question which motivated the bulk of the group's discussion was "How is physics relevant to the study of events and their perception?'' Two extreme positions emerged from our conversations, although perhaps most members of the group would place themselves somewhere between these two views. Extreme position one: Properly developed and appropriately scaled physics can explain evervthing. including perception. Extreme position two: Physics cannot even explain physics (without additional explanatory principles from psychology concerning observation, language, etc.). Perhaps, the key issue dividing these two positions is the problem of measurement. Depending on how one defines physics, (and how one understands the operation of measurement), both of these positions are tenable.
