ABSTRACT

A further topic are the various form s of acquired dyslexia that are characterized by specific reading routines, such as letter-by-letter-reading, sounding out, or w hole-w ord-reading (cf.Patterson, 1981). The registration of eye m ovem ents could possibly provide further evidence for the existence of these reading routines and could clarify w hether or not these routines change w ith different task dem ands. For exam ple, the recognition of w ords as opposed to nonw ords m ay be related to different eye m ovem ent patterns in reading aloud, but probably not in reading silently or in a lexical decision task.
