ABSTRACT
All mental health organizations (MHOs), from large state mental health authorities to private and public community providers, have relationships with external organizations. The external organizations most critical to the success of MHOs can be divided into four major groups with examples at national, state, and local levels (Table 17.1). Some are more relevant to public-sector organizations than for-profit ones, but all should be understood by mental health administrators.
