Karl Tomm has for many years been a Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Family Therapy Program at The University of Calgary Faculty of Medicine in Alberta, Canada. He is known both as an original thinker and as an integrator and explicator of key developments in the adjoining fields of family therapy and social constructionist theory. Through various publications (cited throughout the following pages) and worldwide workshops, he has shown special sensitivity to interactional processes in the roles of the family therapist, the ethics of therapeutic discourses and practices, and the social/systemic construction of the self.
