ABSTRACT

If this chapter dealt with medications for MCI for which we have a set of robust, effective, and uncontroversial results arising from prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical studies, it would be a very short chapter—there are none! Nevertheless, we will present an overview of potential and forthcoming treatments and treatment possibilities, painting with broad strokes the present putative treatments and future possible avenues which may prove productive. I will look at available evidence for pharmacological interventions. Later chapters will consider nonpharmacological as well as combination approaches. We will also address some basic issues regarding treatment trials in MCI.
