ABSTRACT

Attachment theory (Bowlby, 1969, 1973, 1980) is one of the most com-prehensive theories of personality and social development in the historyof psychology. Bowlby’s keen observations and deep insights into the psychological and emotional ties that bind individuals together, combined with his expansive theoretical vision to merge core principles from different disciplinesranging from ethology, to evolutionary biology, to psychiatry, to control systems theory, to cognitive psychology-was a remarkable intellectual feat.
