ABSTRACT

The vast majority of Spanish nouns form their plurals in one of the following three ways:

2.1.2 Plural in -s

(a) Nouns ending in an unstressed vowel (numerous!):

la cama-las camas bed la serie-las series series el huevo-los huevos egg la tribu-las tribus tribe

(b) Nouns ending in -e, and words of one syllable ending in -e: el cafe-los cafes coffee/ cafe el pie-los pies foot/ feet

el te-las tes tea

(c) Nouns of more than one syllable ending with -c5 (rare): el dominä-los dmni1z6s domino el bur6-los bur6s roll-top desk

(d) Many foreign words ending in a consonant, e.g. el club-los clubs. See 2.1.5.
