ABSTRACT

Frequent mistakes made by foreigners when asking questions or uttering exclamations are: confusion between qué and cuál, failure to write accents on interrogative or exclamatory pronouns and adverbs, omission or wrong position of the upside-down question mark and exclamation mark, mistakes in the choice between qué and lo que in indirect questions (see Glossary for ‘indirect question’). For the use of the Spanish signs ¿ and ¡ see 39.4.5.
