ABSTRACT

Pronouns may appear in four main places in a sentence: l as the subject (English ‘I’, ‘he’) l as the direct object (English ‘me’, ‘them’) l as the indirect object (English ‘you’, ‘us’), preceded by a preposition such as ‘to’ l after a preposition (English ‘after you’, ‘above it’) The form taken by a pronoun depends on what function it has in the sentence (subject ‘we’, direct object ‘us’, etc.).
