ABSTRACT
Migration is the third component of demographic change and, in principle, should have the same amount of attention paid to its measurement as the other two components, fertility and mortality. However, in practice, migration has been very much the ‘poor relation’ of the other two components. Demographers have paid far less attention to its analysis than they have paid to the analysis of fertility and mortality.
