ABSTRACT
The final three chapters of this book are about population projection. This is an important practical aspect of the work of demographers, many of whom are employed in various aspects of population forecasting. It is also, however, a subject which requires a knowledge of mortality, fertility and migration, and the ways in which they act together to determine population change and growth. Population projection, therefore, provides a real test of the demographer’s understanding of the major components of population change.
