ABSTRACT

We have already seen how you can use tenses to talk about things in the past, present and future (Day 19). Today we are going to take another look but from a different perspective. How can you signal that you are talking about the past? How can you indicate that several things happened, one after the other, and all of them in the past? How can you say that something lasted a long time or that something is still going on? The unravelling of events in time and the relationships between them are vital building blocks for constructing a convincing essay or a compelling narrative.
