ABSTRACT
Since we are now to examine the highest and most perfect expression of the theories concerning the infinitesimal in ancient mathematics, namely that which appears in the writings of Archimedes, we will take the opportunity of glancing rapidly at the many aspects of such theories in the ancient world.
