ABSTRACT

In any human endeavor, it is wise to know exactly what we are trying to do. If we have an explicit goal, we can more readily tell when we are off the track, when our efforts have been diverted. A goal can also provide a norm by which to evaluate our progress and the adequacy of each step along the way. Equally important, the setting of a goal may help us to widen our outlook by calling to our attention possibilities that might otherwise be», overlooked.
