Military training in matters of intercultural diversity and equal opportunity is multi-tiered, starting with basic instruction at the various service entry points (e.g., basic recruit training, Service Academies, ROTC) and continuing through the senior career levels. Although each service develops its own directives and program of training, the core for this training comes from one source: the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida (formerly known as the Defense Race Relations Institute or DRRI).
