ABSTRACT

Someone is needed to facilitate activities of every project a company undertakes, to ensure that it is completed as planned. That manager must massage situations to their advantage where inflexibility prevents activities from occurring at their required destinations on time. There are many more in a big national/multinational market leader and less in a typical SME. Sometimes a manager controls situations directly by actuating. At other times, he or she may delegate but still be held accountable. In most cases, a manager facilitates by making malleable what was inflexible, by oiling the works, and by applying appropriate knowledge, ideas, and wisdom to making things easier for people to get things done. Within the workplace itself, a manager will continuously place himself/herself in positions where they can be available to assist in making things happen, by enabling employees to work more effectively. A useful manager is like an oiling can that keeps the cogs turning smoothly in an important machine.
