Niehoff. Conrad M. Arensberg is Professor of Anthropology at Columbia University, where he has taught for many years. He has studied the cultures of a variety of peoples throughout the world, including American Indians, the people of the Middle East, Japanese Americans, Detroit factory workers, and peasants in India and Ireland. He is the author of The Irish Countryman: An Anthropological Study and co-author (with Solon T. Kimball) of Family and Community in Ireland. Arthur H. Niehoff received his Ph.D. in anthropology at Columbia University. He has served as a curator at the Milwaukee Public Museum, community development adviser for AID in Laos, research scientist at the George Washington University, and teacher in several universities. He is now chairman of the Department of Anthropology at California State College, Los Angeles. His professional experience includes field work in South and Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
