ABSTRACT
In an institutional setting, we require information about what we are dealing with before we can take steps to deal with it. We must first learn the nature of the environment and what it demands of us, by what rules the institutional game is played, how various occupants of important positions in the institution will apply them, and what, on the basis of our own experience and that of others, will be the likely outcome of different lines of activity we might pursue. 1
