ABSTRACT

The perspective we have described is the one ordinarily used by students in dealing with the problems posed for them by the academic part of campus life. Let us be clear (at the risk of being repetitious) about what we mean. We do not mean that all students use the perspective at all times or that all students invariably undertake the actions we have described, or that students never have any other motive than getting good grades. We particularly do not mean that the perspective is the only possible way for students to deal with the academic side of campus life.
