ABSTRACT
The majority of studies on human trafficking focus on the supply side of the market and are victim-centred – almost exclusively so in places like South Africa. This reflects both the natural sympathy that people have with the abused, as well as the practical requirement to develop information which can be proactively used to prevent trafficking, prosecute, convict and then, at the end of the ‘chain’, assist with rescue and victim re-empowerment.
