ABSTRACT

Molly Broad served for eight and a half years (1997-2005) as president of the University of North Carolina, where she was responsible for the supervision and representation of sixteen campuses and their affiliated enterprises. A native of Pennsylvania, Broad earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from Syracuse University, her master’s from Ohio State University. Before becoming the president of the UNC system, she served in several high administrative posts from coast to coast, including vice president for government and corporate relations at Syracuse University (1971-1985), chief executive officer for the university system of Arizona (1985-1992). She came to UNC from the Califirnia State Univeristy system, where she served as senior vice president for administration (1992-1993) and as executive vice chancellor and chief operating officer (1993-1997).
