ABSTRACT

The Catholic Worker movement, as previously mentioned, has adhered to the philosophy of personalism and anarchy from its beginning. The group which makes up the category "authorities" in the Catholic Worker is composed primarily of four people. The next group to be discussed, the Residents, are those people who live at the Catholic Worker and either have part time employment, or a stipend from the government in the form of social security, veteran's pensions, or other income. The aspirants are those persons who desire some association or membership in the Catholic Worker movement. Questions related to this category within the group include: What type of people are attracted to the group? Why do they seek admission? The transients, as a category is presented in a brief overview to indicate the kinds of men and women who arrive at the Worker in need of food, clothing, and shelter. Basically, they are people from every race, ethnic and religious category.
