ABSTRACT
As indicated earlier, the importance of justification is both pragmatic and fundamental. The first of these is clear. Owing to its persuasive power, objective justification of ethics, and especially of human rights norms, is needed as a forceful source of motivation. It is needed, first, for the acquisition of moral experiences. And, once they have been acquired, it tends to reinforce their continuing strength.
