ABSTRACT

Rev. Ephraim Jernazian died on February 5,1971, exactly fifty years to the day after his arrest and imprisonment on February 5, 1921. His deliverance from execution two years after the arrest gave him an even greater sense of mission — he was spared to serve his people with renewed vigor. In the New World, the needs were different but the commitment was the same as in the Old World. In the various parishes on the east and west coasts of the United States, together with Mrs. Jernazian, he helped the first generation of Armenian immigrants make the difficult adjustment to building a life in the new culture, and he taught the second and third generations to appreciate their heritage.
