ABSTRACT
Environment, physical, economic, or social, is impotent to change the head-form of the Caucasian Jews into the brachycephalic type, that of the African Jews into the dolichocephalic type, or that of the European Jews into the brachycephalic or mesocephalic type. The measurements of the European Jews brought forward above are of persons native of parts of Russia known as Lithuania, White Russia, Little Russia, and Poland; also of Austrian Galicia, Hungary, and Roumania. A careful study of the head-form of the non-Jewish races of these countries reveals the remarkable facts: Their head-form is more uniform than that of the population of any other part of Europe. The most noteworthy characteristic of the skulls of modern Jews is their great variability, according to the country from which they are derived. The simplest way to determine the size of the head is the determination of its horizontal circumference, although it is not at all the most satisfactory method.
