ABSTRACT
Radmila Lazic (b. 1949) is a Serbian feminist and was the founder of the Civil Resistance Movement during the Milošević years. Yet it would be a mistake to confine the thirty-six poems of A Wake for the Living, which have been vividly translated by Charles Simic, to the specific realms of political poetry or woman’s literature.
