ABSTRACT

50Almost as popular as the interpretation of Fascism as the result of moral crisis is the interpretation that construes Fascism to have been the result of essentially individual psychodynamic problems suffered by large groups of political actors. The form this interpretation takes is almost exclusively psychoanalytic in character. Fascism is understood to be the consequence of problems generated in the psychosexual development of the individual. Many individuals suffering the same process produce the human mass required to support Fascism. Fascism is the product of a “sick society” that is afflicted with the working out of the problems of psycho-dynamically impaired individuals.
