How have Czech and Slovak Jews of the postwar generation defined Jewishness? Who, in their view, is a Jew? What has Jewishness meant to them? How do they see their connections to other Jews? How do their personal definitions of a Jewish identity compare with the competing communal ethnic and religious conceptualizations of the kehillah, which we discussed in the previous chapter?
