The Concept of the Spatial Schema As a result of our sensory and verbal contact with the surrounding environment, we receive a great variety of data which form the basis of our perceptions of that environment. Such perceptions refer to particular places and in employing the concept of place it is important to recognize that we
are referring to locational entities at a variety of geographic scales from the individual lot or neighborhood to the nation as a whole.
