Kenneth E. Boulding’s first law is that anything that exists is possible. It is surprising how many people do not believe this. Truth has two meanings. On one hand it is the opposite of lies, and on the other hand it is the opposite of error. The “Pinocchio Principle”: Someone sets up what is supposed to be a puppet and it starts to walk. The church-founded college starts to behave like a college and eventually it breaks its church connection. Faced with homeostatic failure, the schizophrenic adjusts his perceptions, the weak man hauls down his ideals, and the hero puts in a new furnace and insulates the house. The real name of the devil is sub optimization, finding out the best way to do something which should not be done at all.
