ABSTRACT
The term ‘ideology’ is naturally precious to the ideologist; always ready to ‘unmask’ in others their unconscious motivations and material interests, he develops extraordinary resistances to the scien tist who would probe the unconscious motives and material interests of ideologists themselves. ‘Do not unto us what we would do to others’, is the imperative which issues from the ideologists’ uncon scious.
