ABSTRACT

Over the years, Allport, Maslow, and Murray have each done many diverse pieces of research. Despite the wide range of topics considered, there is a striking consistency in the approaches of these theorists both singly and together. It is not feasible to review all of the research they have done, and, happily, it is not necessary to be so comprehensive in order to discover their general approach. What you will find here is a summary of some of the more important and representative studies done by each theorist, along with an explication of the humanistic themes running through the work. In addition, we will sketch some of the most direct influences these men have had on the research of others.
