ABSTRACT

Predictions on Europe’s future range from impending suicide to its emergence as the leading economic and political superpower. Off late predictions and visions, especially those coming out of Europe, have been rather skeptical, and it is refreshing to come across a book (by Steven Hill, Europe’s Promise, University of California Press, 2010), which reaches the conclusion that the European model is not only superior to the American in almost every possible way but also the best hope in an insecure age. Everything in Europe is better; with its smart power, it will even solve the problem of the Iranian bomb.
