ABSTRACT

Theodor HerzI has entered political history as the author of two small books; one the Judenstaat (Jewish State), the other a piece of political science fiction entitled Altneuland. Altneuland, published in 1902, describes the visit of two European sympathizers with the cause of Zionism after an absence of many years to Palestine, now a Jewish state which they have never seen. They are awe struck by the enormous achievements that have been made over and above what even the most enthusiastic visitors could reasonably have expected. Had they postponed their visit a bit longer, their amazement would have been even greater.
