ABSTRACT
The New York Timesrecently reported that a Whittier, California man was denied health insurance because he carried the gene for neurofibromatosis (Blakeslee 1990). As our knowledge of the human genome expands, discrimination of this kind, based on the possession of genetic markers, will become more feasible. Almost inevitably, employers and insurance companies will seek to take advantage of this new knowledge.
