ABSTRACT

Fr. Frechette was taking care of his dying mother in Connecticut when the earthquake hit Haiti. She insisted he return to Port-au-Prince, where he’s worked for a generation as a priest and doctor (see p. 79). Fr. Frechette went back and forth, returning to the U.S. in time to be with his mother as she died. He delivered the following talk at a ceremony attended by many of his Haitian comrades who came all the way to the U.S. to pay their respects.
