ABSTRACT

Any reform of Social Security that restores the system‘s long-term solvency will likely reduce average replacement rates (and thus, initial benefits) for younger workers and future generations. In the twenty-first century, private savings and retirement arrangements will thus likely play a larger role in promoting financial security and wealth accumulation.
