ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book traces out in considerable detail the influence of social class sub-cultures on family size preferences and on family limitation behavior. It also traces out in detail one major subcultural variable, that of social class, and deals also with one other extremely important variable, religion, as a control variable. The chapter examines some aspects of patterns of sexual gratification in marriage. It discusses contraceptive behavior in terms of generalized attitudes toward the possibility of planning a family, the discussions husband and wife have of this subject, the kinds of methods known and used and the effectiveness with which they are used, and the attitudes which couples express toward different kinds of medical and family planning clinic approaches to contraceptive advice and prescription.
