ABSTRACT
In the previous chapter, I showed that economists and psychiatrists function as secular priests, social engineers, and agents of behavior control, but masquerade as scientists. In this chapter, I show that, perforce, economists and psychiatrists promote either coercion or cooperation-the individualist-capitalist market economy or the collectivist-therapeutic welfare economy; contractual-voluntary psychiatry or coercive-involuntary psychiatry. I illustrate and support this observation by describing the parallels between foreign aid and psychiatric aid (psychiatric services).
