ABSTRACT
The Mexican-American War was the result of a number of issues, the most visible one being the annexation of Texas by the United States in 1845. Additionally, Britain’s public expressions of establishing colonies in California and the U.S.’ wish of territorial expansion to the Pacific Ocean, in keeping with Manifest Destiny were influencing factors.
