ABSTRACT

The definition of the comparison group in this study was, necessarily, rather arbitrary. It consisted of clients who had left treatment within five days of entry. However, as will be noted in Chapter VIII, 42 percent of the comparison group members subsequently re-entered treatment. Thus, the comparison group was not as “pure” as one would like.
